The City anchors the southern end of the Salinas Valley and acts as a gateway to what’s considered the Salad Bowl of the World and Steinbeck Country. The close to 14,000 people who reside in the City have access to a wide-range of activities. Highlights include the Salinas Valley Fair, Pinnacles National Park, San Lorenzo Park and Campground and the Monterey County Agricultural & Rural Life Museum.
John Steinbeck memorialized this area in his novel East of Eden, paying tribute to his family’s roots.
