Just southwest of Greenfield, on the edge of Reliz Creek is the Flora’s Farm, a family-owned and operated organic farm that not only grows non-GMO produce, but also raises happy, cage free laying hens and honeybees for all natural honey.
Flora, yes that’s really the owner’s name, comes from a family of Swiss-Italian immigrants who arrived in the Salinas Valley in the 1930s and started dairy farming. The cows are long gone, replaced by about 140 different varieties of heirloom vegetables, fruits and flowers all naturally grown on the farm’s 4 acres and tended to by Flora and her husband and daughter. Hands-on, hard work keeps everything flourishing; no pesticides or herbicides are every used.
The Farm is open to the public every Sunday from 9am to 4pm. You can also find Flora at local farmers markets, seasonally.
Location: 44765 Reliz Canyon Road, Greenfield.
